Kim Jong Suk and Magazine Korean Women

Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- The DPRK's magazine Korean Women greets its 70th founding anniversary. After Korea's liberation from Japan's colonial rule, President Kim Il Sung gave an instruction on founding a periodical helpful to enlightening the working women of the country. True to his instruction, Kim Jong Suk, an anti-Japanese war hero, had worked heart and soul. She visited the building of the Democratic Women's Union of Korea in February 1946 to discuss on the foundation of periodical with its officials. She made clear all the issues arising in the preparations for edition and publication of the women union's organ. In June 1946, she met with officials of the women's union and guided the compilation of women's magazine, saying that the magazine should serve as an ideological weapon to equip all the women with Kim Il Sung's idea and arouse them to the building of a new Korea. A few days later, President Kim Il Sung called Kim Jong Suk together with officials and editors and instructed to name the magazine Korean Women. True to his intention, Kim Jong Suk, with editors, pushed ahead with the work for founding the magazine, the organ of the Democratic Women's Union of Korea. After all, the first issue of the magazine Korean Women came into being on September 6, 1946. |
