On the anniversary, the Korean people are recalling with deep emotion the undying feats President Kim Il Sung performed to build a new country where the working masses play a role of its master.

After Korea's liberation from Japan's colonial rule, Kim Il Sung called for building a democratic people's republic representing the interests of all Koreans, proceeding from the characters and duty of the Korean revolution. And he stressed that the republic should be built by the Koreans themselves and, to this end, it is needed to form a democratic national united front embracing all the democratic forces led by the working class.

He also showed deep care for the institution of national emblem, flag and anthem. He said that the national emblem and flag should symbolize the DPRK as a dignified, independent and sovereign state. And he personally guided the work for writing words of "The Patriotic Song" (National Anthem).

Under his wise guidance, the birth of the DPRK was declared on September 9, Juche 37 (1948).

With the foundation of the DPRK, the Korean people could become a genuine master of the state and society and a dignified people independently carving out their destiny. And the country could turn into a full-fledged independent and sovereign state.
