Banquet Given on 68th Founding Anniversary of DPRK
Pyongyang, September 9 (KCNA) -- A banquet was given at the People's Palace of Culture Friday, the 68th founding anniversary of the DPRK.

Present there were Kim Yong Nam, Pak Pong Ju and other leading officials of the party, the state and the army, the chairperson of a friendly party, officials of armed forces, the Cabinet, ministries and national institutions, former un-converted long-term prisoners, officials of the army and the society who set an example in the 200-day campaign of loyalty, persons of distinguished services, overseas compatriots and the chief of the Pyongyang mission of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front.

Present there on invitation were couples of diplomatic envoys and representatives of international organizations here and foreign guests.

Kim Yong Nam, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, made an address.

The speaker said that September of this significant year when the Seventh Congress of the WPK was held makes the Korean people look back upon the proud route of victory covered by them under the leadership of the peerlessly great men of Mt. Paektu. The DPRK is demonstrating its might to the world as Juche power and invincible military power strong with independence and Songun and a genuine people's state guided by the people-first principle, he said, adding:

The DPRK would advance straight forward along the unchangeable orbit of independence, Songun and socialism under the leadership of Marshal Kim Jong Un and build the best country and people's paradise on this land with a firm hold on the general line of the WPK and the principle of giving priority to self-development.

The DPRK government will pave a broad avenue to independent reunification in the idea of national independence and great national unity, ensure global peace and security and expand and develop the foreign relations as befitting its position as an independent power and a nuclear weapons state.
