S. Korean Body Calls for Peace on Korean Peninsula and Withdrawal of U.S. Forces

Pyongyang, September 11 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification held a press conference in Seoul on September 8 at which it announced a joint resolution of the north, the south and the overseas headquarters which vowed to strive to get the U.S. forces withdrawn from south Korea and defuse the crisis of war on the Korean peninsula, according to a south Korean paper.

The speakers called upon all people to turn out as one in the drive to prevent the U.S. from using south Korea as battlefields.

They charged that it is very wrong that the authorities are opting for "sanctions against the north" while openly revealing their stand toward "collapse of the north's regime" and "unification through absorption".

They urged the U.S. and the south Korean authorities to work for the signing of a peace agreement, not for "sanctions against the north".

In order to tide over the present complicated situation, it is necessary to successfully hold as soon as possible the joint conference proposed by the north, they held.
