Largest-ever General Strike Declared in S. Korea

Pyongyang, September 13 (KCNA) -- Representatives of the Joint Measure Committee of the Public Sector Trade Unions of the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions and the Federation of Trade Unions of south Korea held a press conference in Seoul on September 5 at which it declared it would launch the largest-ever general strike against the authorities' evil labor policy.

They accused the regime of trying to introduce the system of paying salaries according to piece rate and enforcing the system of forcible retirement at public and financial institutions despite the strong opposition of the labor circle.

Noting that they were opposed to the systems, they said the workers in the public and financial sectors would enter a series of strikes from late September.

They declared they would stage a strike till the regime sincerely opts for negotiations with trade unions and stops promoting unilateral labor policy.
