World-famous Scholars Produced by Kim Il Sung University
Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- The number of world-renowned scholars is increasing in the DPRK.

Among them is Dr. Im Song Jin of the Physical Faculty of Kim Il Sung University, whose paper "Nano plasmonic phase modulator" was carried in a magazine "Scientific Reports" of the British "Nature" Publishing Group in January this year.

His paper struck world scientists with amazement as it advanced a new conception of plasmonic phase modulation, quite different from the existing principle and method.

Im has so far presented scores of papers to 10-odd international academic seminars, with eight SCI international scientific treatises in 2015-2016. His paper "Progress in Nonlinear nano-optics" was also brought out in a booklet by Germany's "Springer Series".

According to Ri Sang Il, director of the nature science guidance department of Kim Il Sung University, told KCNA that the university has produced at least 20 world-famous scholars in recent years.

They include Dr. Jang Song Hun of the Life Science Faculty who registered in the GenBank 50 genes of goshawk, the national bird of the DPRK, and diverse fishes on behalf of the university, presented 15 papers to the SCI international scientific magazine and attended the international scientific seminars several times.

There are also Dr. Yu Chol Jun of the Material Science Faculty, and Dr. Kim Nam Chol of the Physical Faculty.

Yu Chol Jun was invited to be a member of the organizing committee for the Asia Advanced Materials Congress hosted by the IAAM in June this year and enrolled as a member of IAAM in July.

Kim Nam Chol blazed a new path to the quantum information field in the DPRK. He made a significant progress in researches into the development of single photon transistor and the optical properties of nano-particle systems and quantum state control.
