Medicinal herb cultivation is an important work to make the people enjoy benefits from the socialist healthcare system, Jon Pyong Il, director of the Koryo Medicine Production Management Bureau under the Ministry of Public Health, said, adding:

The government has paid deep attention to putting the cultivation and gathering of medical plants on a scientific basis and conserving herb resources.

In the cultivation months, steps are taken to conserve and propagate under a detailed plan various species of herbs, especially species poor in resources, and establish a cyclic gathering system throughout the country.

And a work is conducted to explain the pharmacological action of medicinal herbs to inhabitants and encourage co-op farms, schools, hospitals and enterprises to massively plant herbs in waste land.
