Present at the symposium were Choe Sang Gon, department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea; Kim Sung Du, chairman of the Education Commission; Thae Hyong Chol, president of Kim Il Sung University and minister of Higher Education; and officials, teachers and researchers of at least 80 scientific and educational institutions including Kim Il Sung University, the State Academy of Sciences, the Academy of Social Sciences and Kim Chaek University of Technology.

The symposium was divided into more than 60 panels. It heard more than one thousand papers on social sciences which explained the personality of President Kim Il Sung, leader Kim Jong Il and Marshal Kim Jong Un as the peerlessly great men and their undying leadership exploits and papers on natural sciences conducive to building of a scientific and technological power.

Speakers said that Kim Jong Il worked heart and soul to develop Kim Il Sung University into the center for training revolutionary talents, a seat of training reliable backbones for the Songun revolution.

They called for further glorifying the history and tradition of the university which has covered a proud course of development thanks to the particular love and trust of the peerlessly great men of Mt. Paektu in the struggle to embody Kim Jong Un's idea of building a socialist power.
