Present at the unveiling ceremony were Hwang Pyong So, Choe Ryong Hae, Kim Ki Nam, officials concerned, officials of the units which made contributions to erecting the statue, those of merits, shock brigade members, and working people, youth and students and service personnel in Ryanggang Province and the county.

The statue of Kim Jong Il was unveiled by senior officials of the Party and army and the county.

A floral basket in the name of supreme leader Kim Jong Un was laid before the statue.

Also laid there were a floral basket in the joint name of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK, the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK and the Cabinet of the DPRK, floral basket in the name of the people of Samjiyon County and floral baskets in the names of the Party and power bodies, working people's organizations, institutions, industrial establishments and farms, units of the Korean People's Army and the Korean People's Internal Security Forces in the province and the county.

The participants paid high tribute to Kim Jong Il.

Choe Ryong Hae, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau and vice-chairman of the C.C., the WPK, said in his address that the erection of the statue of Kim Jong Il in the time-honored place of the revolution in the most respectful manner was the precious fruition of the wise leadership of Kim Jong Un who is opening a new history of the cause of immortalizing the great leaders in this land.

The speaker called upon all the people to hold Kim Jong Il in high esteem as the eternal leader of the WPK and the people and bring earlier the final victory of the revolutionary cause of Juche, true to the leadership of Kim Jong Un.
