Brazilian Paper Urges UN to Fulfill Its Mission as Int'l Body
|

Pyongyang, September 25 (KCNA) -- The 32nd issue of a Brazilian paper carried an article titled "For whom does the UN exist?" The paper said that the UN was founded more than 70 years ago out of the aspiration of the people of each country to deter the holocaust of war and the international community's unanimous desire to protect the peace and security of the world and promote the economic development by pooling efforts. Today, the international arena has turned into the great powers' theater of rowdyism where even elementary principles in international relations including the respect for the sovereignty of countries and their territorial integrity, peaceful settlement of international disputes and non-interference in other's internal affairs on which mankind agreed and stipulated are ignored. The UN can never serve the U.S. for the reason that its building is in its land. However, the U.S. is pretending itself to be "Interpol" putting the agencies of the UN Secretariat under its control, regarding the UN an institution affiliated to it. The U.S. and its vassal forces are imposing unprecedented sanctions on the DPRK and putting military pressure on it, branding it as an "unpardonable country" and "root cause of evil" in the international community. However, the UN has done nothing to condemn the U.S. high-handed and arbitrary practices only to adopt the "resolution of sanctions" against the DPRK. The UN had better fulfill its mission as an international body to fairly meet the requirements and wishes of the people of each country desirous of the peace and security of the world rather than hamper the independent desire and development by putting pressure on sovereign countries including the DPRK with double standards, double ruler, centered on a country. This is the unanimous desire of the international community on the anniversary of the UN. |
