Int'l Science and Technology Book Fair Opens
Pyongyang, September 26 (KCNA) -- The 10th Pyongyang International Science and Technology Book Fair opened with due ceremony at the Sci-Tech Complex on Monday.

On display there are books on the latest science and technology and other materials presented by dozens of bodies from more than 20 countries including the DPRK, Germany, Russia, Singapore, Egypt, Vietnam, Finland, Peru and China, such international bodies as UNESCO, WHO and the Environmental Education Media Project, overseas Koreans' organizations, individual personages and foreign embassies and missions of international bodies here.

Present at the opening ceremony were Choe Thae Bok, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, officials concerned, teachers, researchers, delegations and delegates of foreign countries, international bodies and overseas Koreans' organizations and staff members of foreign embassies and missions of international bodies here.

The participants made bows to the picture of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il at the Sci-Tech Complex.

Kim Jong Suk, chairwoman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries who is chairwoman of the organizing committee of the book fair, in an opening address expressed the belief that the book fair would be successful thanks to the sincere efforts and positive activities of the participants.

Victor Bogatov, head of a delegation of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, in a congratulatory speech expressed the will to take an active part in the Pyongyang International Science and Technology Book Fair to make contributions to boosting international exchange and cooperation of science and technology.
