Development of Tourist Resources Gains Momentum in DPRK
Pyongyang, September 27 (KCNA) -- It has been pushed forward to develop tourist resources in the DPRK, said Dr. Chae Jae Duk, a faculty dean of Pyongyang Tourism College, on the occasion of World Day of Tourism (Sept. 27).

In the DPRK, there are many tourist destinations like Pyongyang, Wonsan and Kaesong cities and Mts. Paektu, Kumgang and Myohyang, he said, adding:

According to detailed measures taken by the state, the development of tourist resources like the construction of infrastructure is steadily going on.

Typical of projects for tourism is the Wonsan-Mt. Kumgang international tourist zone, an integral whole of natural and socio-cultural tourist resources.

Especially, Wonsan, a port city, has been turned into a tourist destination for summer and winter seasons with the completion of the Masikryong Ski Resort and the remodeling of Songdowon International Children's Camp.

In the zone, there are the Kosan Combined Fruit Farm and the livestock farming base of the Sepho area favorable for agro-stock tourism.

The completion and modernization of a number of infrastructural facilities like airport and hotel make it possible for the zone to strengthen its international competitive power.

Big efforts have also been paid to developing tourist zones in different parts of the country including the special zone for international tour of Mubong and Mt. Chilbo, one of world biosphere sanctuaries.

Tourist programs have been diversified, which includes air tourism and marathon, bicycle, horse-riding and ski tourisms.

Recently, the Pyongyang Taedonggang Beer Festival and the Wonsan Air Festival-2016 drew many local and foreign tourists.
