DPRK FM Delegation Visits Iran
Pyongyang, October 1 (KCNA) -- A delegation of the Foreign Ministry of the DPRK headed by Choe Hui Chol, director general of the Asian and Oceanian Department, paid an official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran from September 26 to 30.

During the visit the delegation paid a courtesy call on Ebrahim Rahimpour, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, and had talks with Mahmoud Farazandeh, director general for East Asia and Oceania of the Foreign Ministry, and exchanged views with the acting director general for Human Rights and Women of the ministry and officials concerned.

The DPRK side said that it is the consistent stand of the DPRK government to invariably attach importance to the traditional relations of friendship and cooperation with Iran and boost them on a new high stage, irrespective of the changing situation.

It noted that the present situation on the Korean peninsula is reaching an uncontrollable phase entirely because of the U.S. heinous hostile policy toward the DPRK.

The Iranian side expressed thanks to the Korean people for positively supporting the just cause of the Iranian people after the victory of the Islamic revolution in Iran. It clarified the stand to further develop the friendly and cooperative relations with the DPRK and support and cooperate each other in international arenas including the UN. It also expressed understanding of the steps taken by the DPRK to defend itself from outside forces' ceaseless threat of aggression.

Both sides discussed the issue of bilateral relations and other regional and international issues of mutual concern including the situation on the Korean peninsula and in Middle East and reached a consensus of views.
