General Strike of S. Korean Workers Gets Fierce
Pyongyang, October 2 (KCNA) -- The general strike of workers in protest against the authorities' anti-labor policy in south Korea is on the steady rise.

There took place a meeting declaring the general strike and all-out action in Youido, Seoul, which was attended by 16,000 members of the Confederation of Trade Unions.

At the rally, the body demanded the authorities stop privatizing public sectors, restructuring and increase of part-time jobs, abolish the system of paying salaries according to piece rate, institute a law for labor reform, probe truth behind the murder of peasant Paek Nam Gi and punish the murderer.

Members of the international trade union made solidarity speeches at the rally.

At the end of the rally the participants marched to the building of the ruling "Saenuri Party".
