Kim Jong Un Inspects Mangyongdae Revolutionary Site Souvenir Factory

Pyongyang, October 7 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, provided field guidance to the Mangyongdae Revolutionary Site Souvenir Factory. Kim Jong Un learned in detail about the situation of the factory and gave an instruction to turn it into a factory producing not only souvenirs but also various consumer goods by remodeling it as required by the new century and installing modern zipper, melamine resin goods and other production processes in addition and took a step for doing so. He looked round the room dedicated to the history of the factory. The factory, founded in December 1979 on the personal initiative of leader Kim Jong Il and under his meticulous guidance, produces not only souvenirs for visitors to revolutionary battle sites and historic sites, the eternal treasures of the Korean revolution, but also various kinds of daily necessities. Recalling that leader Kim Jong Il highly appreciated the products of the factory during his visit to the venue of the Pyongyang City exhibition of light industrial goods in August 1984, Kim Jong Un said the officials and employees of the factory should never forget the trust and loving care shown by the leader. Then, he went round the zipper production process, melamine resin goods production process, souvenir production process, sample room and other parts of the factory to acquaint himself in detail with the production of goods and their quality. He expressed great satisfaction over the fact that the factory newly arranged a modern technical process capable of mass-producing plastic and metal zippers needed for bags, footwear and sporting goods and started its operation. He said it became possible to provide the children and students of the country with bags made of domestic cloth and zipper as a home-grown bag cloth production process was installed at the Kim Jong Suk Pyongyang Textile Mill and a Korean-style zipper production process arranged at the Mangyongdae Revolutionary Site Souvenir Factory. The factory has an important duty to perform, he said, advancing the tasks facing it. He said he was very pleased to see the emergence of another mass consumer goods producer based on domestic technology and materials. And he had a photo session with the officials and employees of the factory, expressing his belief that they would fully discharge their responsibility and duty in the efforts to improve the people's standard of living. Accompanying him were Vice-Chairman O Su Yong, Department Director An Jong Su and Vice Department Directors Jo Yong Won and Pak Myong Sun of the WPK Central Committee. |
