On this occasion, the army and people of the DPRK are recalling with deep emotion the immortal feats Kim Jong Il performed in developing the WPK into the Party of President Kim Il Sung with the systems of ideology and leadership of its leader established, the general staff of Songun revolution and the motherly Party serving the popular masses.

In the late 20th century, the DPRK had to undergo hardships due to the collapse of socialism in East European countries, persistent anti-DPRK moves of imperialist allied forces and natural disasters of consecutive years.

But the Korean people overcame all ordeals and difficulties under the leadership of Kim Jong Il.

Recalling those of days of hardships, Kim Jong Il told officials that the victorious advance of the revolution would have been unthinkable without the Party.

In his lifetime, he authored many famous works like "The Workers' Party of Korea is the Party of the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung" to set forth important guidelines for developing the WPK into the glorious Party of Kim Il Sung.

He had performed such great feats as leading the defending of socialism to victory and strengthening the DPRK into a world political and military power. And he had wisely led the WPK to fulfill its duty as the mother Party and took a series of measures to improving the people's standard of living.

Indeed, Kim Jong Il is the eternal general secretary of the WPK who always lives in the mind of the DPRK people.
