70th Anniversary of Writers Union of Korea Marked
Pyongyang, October 12 (KCNA) -- The Writers Union of Korea marked its 70th founding anniversary.

President Kim Il Sung paid attention to developing literature and founded the union on Oct. 13, Juche 35 (1946).

Leader Kim Jong Il led the union to play a big role in carrying forward and developing the tradition of revolutionary literature and art of the Workers' Party of Korea and usher in a great heyday of the Juche-based literature.

The union has creditably performed its honorable mission and duty it assumed before the revolution while covering a proud road of its development under the guidance of the Party and the leaders over the past seven decades.

A meeting marking the anniversary of the union took place at the Grand People's Study House on Wednesday.

Present there were An Tong Chun, chairman of the C.C., the General Federation of the Unions of Art and Literature of Korea, officials concerned and officials and writers of the C.C., the writers union.
