The sporting event will bring together sports teams and amateurs teams from across the country.

They will compete in dozens of sports events such as football, volleyball, basketball, table tennis and track and field.

Present there were Choe Ryong Hae, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea who doubles as chairman of the State Physical Culture and Sports Guidance Commission, officials concerned and officials in the field of sports, sportspersons and citizens.

Ri Jong Mu, minister of Physical Culture and Sports, in an opening address called for making remarkable progress in the work to raise sports fervor throughout the country with this sporting event as a momentum and bring the specialized sports technique to the world's level.

Then speeches were made.

At the end of the ceremony there was a volleyball match between the April 24 Sports Team and the Amnokgang Sports Team.
