Iron and Steel Production Goes up in DPRK

Pyongyang, October 14 (KCNA) -- Metal industrial establishments of the DPRK have turned out in a drive for increased production to supply more steel materials to the recovery efforts in flood-hit North Hamgyong Province. The Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex already carried out its pig iron production plan for the restoration of railways and is producing much amount of square steel every day. The Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex raised the production of heavy rails and bar steel by ensuring the normal operation of oxygen heat blast furnace and UHP electric arc furnace. The Chongjin Steel Factory, too, is now turning out much more steel than planned every day. It carried out its September production plan in 10-odd days. |
