The flames of the resistance, which started from the anti-regime demonstration of students of Pusan University for its freedom on Oct. 16, 1979, rapidly spread to different parts of south Korea including Masan, Seoul, Taegu, Chongju and Jinju.

The resistance fighters waged unyielding and determined struggles, chanting slogans calling for the repeal of "yusin constitution" and the resignation of the dictatorial regime and the freedom of speech and campus despite the brutal suppression of the resistance by heavily armed police and servicemen of the puppet army.

The October resistance clearly showed that no barbarous dictatorship can match the people rising in the struggle for justice and that the unpopular group of traitors is sure to meet its disgraceful end.

It has been scores of years since the resistance for democracy, but the desire of the fighters has not been fulfilled.

It is because of the evil rule of the puppet regime hell-bent on acts of treachery with the backing of foreign forces.

Sycophantic and treacherous politics, fascist dictatorship and anti-reunification confrontational moves by the south Korean puppet forces are a main stumbling block to independence, democracy and reunification all the people desire.

Especially since the traitor Park Geun Hye came to power, the U.S. colonial rule over south Korea has been ever more intensified, even the elementary democratic freedom and vital rights of the south Korean people have been trampled down while the "yusin" dictatorship is being revived, and the inter-Korean ties have been brought to the lowest ebb.

The realities of the prevailing situation in south Korea appeal to its people to wage a more dynamic mass struggle to put an end to the rule of the Park group of traitors in the same spirit and stamina as displayed by the resistance fighters.
