On October 17, Juche 15 (1926), President Kim Il Sung formed the DIU, the vanguard organization of new type, to open up a new path for the Korean revolution.

The formation of the DIU served as a starting point and historic root for building a Juche-type revolutionary party. And its members played a key role in founding the party in Korea.

The DIU's programme and principle of independence became the guidelines for the building of the WPK and its activities, and its spirit of anti-imperialist struggle served as the foundation of the WPK's Songun (military-first) politics.

The history of the Korean revolution that originated from the DIU is an immortal history of victory in which the precious traditions have been established to go down forever.

With the noble idea of the DIU, the Korean people could successfully carry out the building of new Korea after the country's liberation from Japan's colonial rule and lead the three-year Fatherland Liberation War, the postwar rehabilitation, the two-stage social revolution and the socialist construction to victory.

Leader Kim Jong Il in his lifetime had given steady continuity to the traditions of the DIU, modeling the party and the revolutionary ranks on the monolithic idea based on the Juche idea, the Songun idea and turning the DPRK into a power in political, ideological and military aspects while always winning victories in the confrontation with the U.S.

Today the WPK has further strengthened into the Kimilsungist-Kimjongilist party under the guidance of supreme leader Kim Jong Un who is carrying forward the revolutionary cause of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.

The revolutionary cause of Juche, the revolutionary cause of Songun started with the formation of the DIU, will surely emerge victorious under the guidance of the WPK.
