U.S. Moves for Deploying THAAD in S. Korea under Fire

Pyongyang, October 17 (KCNA) -- The special committee for checking THAAD deployment in south Korea and militarism in the Asia-Pacific region on Oct. 13 issued a statement signed by 46 organizations for peace against war and 15 personages all over the world, according to the south Korean on-line paper Voice of Seoul.

The statement said that the decision on THAAD deployment in south Korea will further expand the U.S. missile defense system as it is part of the U.S. Asia-Pacific policy.

The U.S. decision will escalate the military tension and fan up the arms race in the Asia-Pacific region, increase the possibility of a new war on the Korean peninsula and quell the ardent desire of the south Korean people for independence and democracy, it held.

It demanded the U.S. cancel the decision on THAAD deployment in south Korea and make all efforts to defuse the tension on the Korean peninsula.
