Probe into Suspicions about Power-backed Scandals Demanded in S. Korea

Pyongyang, October 19 (KCNA) -- Public and lawmakers of opposition parties in south Korea are demanding a probe into the suspicions about power-backed sandals which are being disclosed, sparking off a public uproar, according to reports. The Council of Professors of Ehwa Woman's University on Oct. 12 sent its president a notice demanding the probe into the suspicion that Jong Yu Ra who is a daughter of Choe Sun Sil, the closest confidant of Park Geun Hye, has been granted by the university all privileges for her admittance to the university and during her university days. The General Students Council of the university held a press conference outside the main gate of the university on Oct. 17 denouncing Jong Yu Ra's fraudulent admittance and privilege granted to her. It demanded the university authorities make an apology and dismiss the university president. The Professors Emergency Committee of the university decided to hold a rally at its main building demanding the resignation of its president. Lawmakers from the opposition parties raised a suspicion about provision of privilege to Jong Yu Ra. Meanwhile, a suspicion about privilege granted to Cha Un Thaek, one of key figures of Park Geun Hye, when appointing the head of the civilian-government joint group for promoting creative economy was exposed, sparking off a big public uproar. |
