Present there were Chairman Kang Ji Yong and members of the Central Committee of the DPRK Red Cross Society, RC officials in central and local areas, RC volunteers and young RC members and working people in the city.

Present there on invitation were delegates of the International Committee of the Red Cross, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and RC Societies of Denmark, Finland and UK, diplomatic envoys and representatives of international organizations here, members of a delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross and a delegation of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies working in the DPRK.

Ri Ho Rim, secretary general of the C.C., of the Society, said in a speech that it has successfully carried out its mission and duty including mass health service and hygiene and rescue work, wartime rescue and anti-epidemic activities, realization of repatriation of Koreans in Japan, humanitarian support to different countries of the world, activities to reduce misfortune and pain of compatriots caused by the division of the country, prevention of disaster, prior prevention, urgent counter-action at a time of disaster, rehabilitation and development and prevention of various kinds of disease.

He said that the Society will as ever preserve and glorify the immortal feats of the peerlessly great men of Mt. Paektu and make a tangible contribution to the nation-wide struggle to realize the independent reunification of the country.

Introduced at the meeting were officials, RC volunteers and young RC members who set an example in the RC work.

The participants looked round photos and books showing proud history and activities of the DPRK Red Cross Society and watched video "DPRK Red Cross Society 1946-2016".

There was an art performance given by the young RC members and Taedong Blind School for celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Society.

On the same day, the Central Committee of the DPRK Red Cross Society gave a reception.
