Land Management in South Hamgyong Province of DPRK

Pyongyang, October 22 (KCNA) -- South Hamgyong Province of the DPRK is taking the lead in the ongoing nation-wide autumn campaign for land management. According to Kim Sam Yong, director of the Provincial Land and Environmental Conservation Bureau, the province started the campaign with a project to expand the width of roads for the construction of the Tanchon Power Station, which is of national significance. It carried out the filling of earth of 100 000 cubic meters and the removal of 440 000 cubic meters of bedrocks in 40km-long road section. And a progress was made at the tunneling construction in Machon Pass to make ventilating shaft of hundreds of meters. Meanwhile, the laying of a new road goes on at the final stage in Tanchon area. Tanchon City built new nurseries while pushing ahead with the construction of 10-odd bridges and the repair of embankments. Similar successes are witnessed in Pukchong, Jongphyong and Yodok counties. At present, more than 10 projects are simultaneously making headway in the province. They include the reconstruction of the Provincial People's Hospital, the second-stage reconstruction of Majon Resort and the construction of 300 flats for scientists and a provincial sci-tech library. |
