Born into a poor peasant family, she was subject to maltreatment and contempt as a member of the stateless nation before the liberation of the country. It was not until President Kim Il Sung liberated the country that she enjoyed a worthy life as a human being.

She is still keeping herself busy, cultivating kitchen garden and raising lots of domestic animals.
