Funerals for Paek Nam Gi Held in Seoul
Pyongyang, November 8 (KCNA) -- Funerals for peasant Paek Nam Gi who was ruthlessly killed by the barbarous suppression by the fascist police took place in south Korea on Nov. 5 and 6, according to reports from Seoul.

The funeral could not be held due to the Park Geun Hye group of traitors' coercive attempt to make an autopsy of the deceased in a bid to cover up the truth about the murder and evade the blame for it. But it was held 41 days later thanks to the staunch actions of people from all walks of life including the bereaved family members and the Headquarters of Struggle for Paek Nam Gi.

Present at the funeral were bereaved families, members of the Headquarters of Struggle for Paek Nam Gi, lawmakers from opposition parties and other political figures and people from all walks of life in south Korea.

The coffin was carried out of the hospital of Seoul National University in the morning of Nov. 5.

A memorial service took place at the Myongdong Cathedral. The funeral procession marched towards the crossroads to the entrance of the Jongro District Office where Paek fell down due to the police suppression.

Many citizens honored the memory of the deceased who devoted his soul to the struggle for democratization and independence of the south Korean society.

A farewell ceremony took place at the Kwanghwamun plaza outside Chongwadae on that afternoon with more than 10 000 citizens including the mayor of Seoul City, lawmakers from opposition parties and political figures.

Speakers expressed their will to continue struggle to punish the murderous regime.

Meanwhile, open-air funerals were held in Posong where Paek was born and other places on Nov. 6 and then the body of the deceased was buried at the Mangwol-dong cemetery.
