Sosong District Juvenile Sports School of DPRK

Pyongyang, November 10 (KCNA) -- Sosong District Juvenile Sports School in Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK is well-known to the country for having produced a large number of sports stars. The school has groups of football, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, wrestling and other events, and it has been a model in training the country's reserve athletes. Among its graduates is Kim Song I of the Amnokgang Sports Team, who won a women's single table tennis bronze medal at the 31st Olympic Games. They also include Jong Il Gwan, who had a hat trick in the finals of the 2010 Asian U-19 Football Championship, Yang Kyong Il, a twice world wrestling champion holder, and Yang Chun Song, a twice Asian wrestling champion holder. A girl volleyball team run by the school has won in the national contest every year, and a lot of graduates are now playing the key role at the DPRK's women volleyball teams. The school has carried out the teaching and training programs on a scientific basis and positively introduced the advanced methods and means in keeping with schoolchildren's age and their physical and technical preparedness. |
