Kong Sam Ol, deputy prime minister in charge of the Royal Palace, was elected chairman of the remembrance committee at the instruction of Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni.

The committee decided to give wide publicity to the revolutionary career and exploits of Kim Jong Il and hold political and cultural events on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of his demise.
