Since 2008, the DPRK team has won qualifications for every U-17 women's world cup, bagging silver medals in 2012 and playing in semifinals four times.

Such brilliant achievements would have been unthinkable without the well-organized system of training reserve sportspersons set up under the deep care of the Workers' Party of Korea and the DPRK government.

Thanks to this system, a number of young footballers have been trained at schools across the country, including Pyongyang International Football School and juvenile sports schools. And the National Schoolchildren's Sports Contest for Jongilbong Prize, the National Games of Juvenile Sports Schools and other games provide them with opportunities to enrich their experience and raise their technique.
