Anniversary of Victory in Yonphyong Island Shelling Marked
Pyongyang, November 23 (KCNA) -- An army-people joint rally took place in Kangryong County, South Hwanghae Province Wednesday to mark the sixth anniversary of the victory in the Yonphyong Island shelling.

The victory in the Yonphyong Island shelling in which the south Korean puppet warmongers suffered bitter defeat after hurting the sovereignty and dignity of the DPRK six years ago was the event which clearly proved once again how miserable the end of the provokers obsessed with confrontation with the fellow countrymen is. And it was the meaningful declaration that the DPRK's just retaliatory strike would show no mercy to the enemies.

Present at the rally were Ri Song Guk, commander of the Fourth Corps of the Korean People's Army; Pak Yong Ho, chairman of the South Hwanghae Provincial Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK); and officers and soldiers of the Korean Peoples' Army including the soldiers who took part in the Yonphyong Island shelling and people from all walks of life in the county.

Working people in Kangryong County presented bouquets and garlands to the soldiers who displayed their valor in the Yonphyong Island shelling, warmly congratulating them.

Ri Song Guk said in a speech that the brilliant victory in the Yonphyong Island shelling was the great event which fully displayed over the world the matchless stamina of the heroic Korean People's Army (KPA) under the leadership of the great brilliant Songun commanders and recorded a page of proud victory of war in the history of Songun Korea.

Kim Pong Hyon, chairman of the Kangryong County Committee of the WPK, made a congratulatory speech.

Speeches were made by Ri Hyon Myong, officer of the KPA, Kim Ryong Jin, commissioned officer, and Jong Song Guk, first secretary of the Kangryong Country Committee of the youth league.

At the end of the rally a congratulatory performance was given by members of the art squad of the KPA unit and the itinerant art squad of Kangryong County.
