Funeral for Ryu Mi Yong Held

Pyongyang, November 25 (KCNA) -- A public funeral for Ryu Mi Yong, member of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA) of the DPRK, deputy to the SPA and chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Chondoist Chongu Party (CCP), took place here on Friday. Present there were Yang Hyong Sop, Kim Yong Chol, Kim Yong Dae, chairman of the Central Committee of the Korean Social Democratic Party (KSDP), and other members of the funeral committee, officials of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, the SPA Presidium, the CCP Central Committee, the KSDP Central Committee, the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Country, the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Democratic Front for the Reunification of Korea, the Central Committee of the Buddhist Federation of Korea, the Central Committee of the Christian Federation of Korea and the Central Committee of the Catholic Association of Korea and bereaved family members of the deceased. Bereaved family members and members of the funeral committee observed a moment's silence in memory of the deceased before her coffin was carried out of the Sojang Club. The hearse left for the Patriotic Martyrs Cemetery in Sinmi-ri. A ceremony of bidding farewell to the deceased took place. Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the SPA Presidium, said in a eulogy that the death of Ryu Mi Yong, a renowned woman political activist, was a great loss. Though her heart stopped beating, the feats she performed for the country and nation will remain forever, Yang stressed. The remains of the deceased were buried in the grave of Choe Tok Sin, her husband, and bereaved family members and members of the funeral committee spread earth on the grave. Placed before the grave was a wreath bearing the august name of supreme leader Kim Jong Un. Also laid were wreaths in the names of the C.C., WPK, the SPA Presidium, the C.C., Chondoist Chongu Party and others. All the participants observed a moment's silence in memory of the deceased. |
