The statement said that the year 2017 is of significance as it marks the 105th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung, the 75th birth anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il and the 5th anniversary of supreme leader Kim Jong Un's assumption of the top party and state posts in the DPRK.

The International Preparatory Committee for the 2017 Meeting Praising Great Persons of Mt. Paektu and national preparatory committees should organize various political and cultural events on a worldwide scale to give wide publicity to the revolutionary idea of Kim Il Sung, Kim Jong Il and Kim Jong Un and thus make great contributions to accomplishing the human cause of independence.

Wishing success to the International Preparatory Committee, the statement extended full support to the Korean people in their efforts to build a thriving socialist nation and achieve the peaceful reunification of Korea.

Meanwhile, Norma G. Binas, vice-president of the Philippines Solidarity Committee for Peace and Reunification in the Korean Peninsula, issued a statement on Nov. 20 in congratulation of the formation of the International Preparatory Committee for the 2017 Meeting Praising Great Persons of Mt. Paektu.

In the statement he declared that together with the Philippine Preparatory Committee for the 2017 Meeting Praising Great Persons of Mt. Paektu, the Philippines Solidarity Committee would positively conduct political and cultural events across the Philippines since January of 2017 to praise the greatness and exploits of the peerlessly great persons of Mt. Paektu.

He said that he would take part in the 2017 Meeting Praising Great Persons of Mt. Paektu to be held in Mt. Paektu and Pyongyang.
