Symposium of Historians Held in DPRK

Pyongyang, November 28 (KCNA) -- There took place a symposium of historians from across the country at Kim Il Sung University on Monday to mark the 40th anniversary of the instruction given by President Kim Il Sung to reexamine the history of human evolution and development in Korea. Present there were Thae Hyong Chol, president of Kim Il Sung University and minister of Higher Education, Ri Hye Jong, president of the Academy of Social Sciences, and Ryong Ju, director of the National Authority for the Protection of Cultural Heritage. Speakers there said the great persons of Mt. Paektu advanced the unique idea and theory on the time-honored history of Korea and the origin of the Koreans and wisely led the work to settle the issue of history of human evolution and development on the Juche-based viewpoint and thus performed exploits to be conveyed down through generations. The President and leader Kim Jong Il also clarified the principled issues arising in eliminating flunkeyism and dogmatism and establishing Juche in the study of the human origin and development and the orientation and ways to dynamically conduct the work of excavating historic relics, they noted, adding: Under the leadership and care of the great persons of Mt. Paektu, fossils proving the existence of the Paleolithic Age and history of human origin and development were excavated in a consecutive order to lay a foundation for formulating and systemizing the history of human evolution and development on a more scientific basis. The Korean nation is a group of people formed on the territory of Korea at the dawn of human history and a homogenous nation that carried forward a single lineage and achieved the common bonds of kinship in the whole historical period of its formation and development. They renewed their pledge to preserve and add glory to the exploits of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il for anthropology and fulfill their responsibility and duty in educating all the service personnel and people in the Korean-nation-first spirit. |
