Jon Arni Halldorsson, general secretary of the Iceland-DPRK Friendship and Cultural Society, was elected chairman of the committee.

The committee decided to organize political and cultural events praising the revolutionary career and exploits of Kim Jong Il on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of his demise.
