Omar Lopez, chairman of the Venezuelan National Society for the Study of the Juche Idea, was elected honorary chairman of the remembrance committee and Felix Jesus Castillo, general coordinator of the Federal Secretariat of the United Left Party of Venezuela, chairman of the committee.

The committee decided to significantly organize political and cultural events praising the revolutionary career and exploits of Kim Jong Il on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of his demise.
