100-odd Senior Secondary Schools Adapted for Technical Schools in DPRK

Pyongyang, December 5 (KCNA) -- Over one hundred senior secondary schools were adapted for technical schools throughout the DPRK. When interviewed by the KCNA, Kim Song Il, a department director of the Education Commission, said: Senior secondary schools in major industrial, rural and coastal areas were turned into technical senior secondary schools in accordance with their industrial and geographical conditions. They include Jangchon and Wonhung technical senior secondary schools in Sadong District of Pyongyang, Chollima Technical Senior Secondary School in Chollima District of Nampho City, Tongsong Technical Senior Secondary School in Songrim City of North Hwanghae Province and Ryonghung Technical Senior Secondary School in Pukchang County of South Phyongan Province. Those technical schools will put the main stress on the education of technical subjects like metal, coal, electricity, fishery, agriculture and stockbreeding in combination with general education. The Education Commission will operate the technical senior secondary schools on an experimental basis and, on this basis, increase the number of technical schools. The appearance of technical schools in the DPRK is of great significance in perfecting the educational system to bring up more technical personnel and accelerating the building of a thriving nation. |
