In January Juche 100 (2011), Kim Jong Il visited the Nampho Glass Bottle Factory and called upon its officials, workers and technicians to continue to give fullest play to their patriotism and spirit of loving the people, stressing that the duty of the factory is very important in improving the people's standard of living and hastening the country's economic construction.

Since then, he gave field guidance to a number of units, including the Jongbangsan General Foodstuff Factory, the Hamhung Woolen Mill, the Pyongyang Department Store No. 1, the Bioengineering Branch of the State Academy of Sciences, the Tudan Duck Farm, the Kujang Fish Farm and the Ryongjon Fruit Farm.

Going round the Sinam Co-op Farm in Ryongchon County of North Phyongan Province and Tongbong Co-op Farm in Hamju County of South Hamgyong Province, he inspired farmers to keep taking the lead in grain production. During his visit to the Namhung Youth Chemical Complex, he set forth important tasks to put the production of fertilizer on a normal basis.

Thanks to his field guidance to industrial units like the Bioengineering Branch of the State Academy of Sciences and Rakwon Machine Complex, the whole country could be seethed with a drive of breaking through the cutting edge to further consolidate the foundation for building a thriving nation.

When giving on-the-spot guidance to South Hamgyong Province in December, he set up the fighting spirit and traits of its people and their self-reliant way of work as a model for the country.

Even on December 15, two days before his demise, he visited the Hana Musical Information Centre and Kwangbok Area Supermarket to give instructions for the improvement of people's living.

Indeed, the whole life of Kim Jong Il was the one for the country and its people.
