The Congress reviewed the successes and experience gained in the work of the union after the 7th Congress and discussed tasks and ways for the union to realize the work of modeling it on Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism as required by the demand of the new era of the Juche revolution and creditably discharging their mission and duty as reliable transmission belt of the party and peripheral organization.

Present there were delegates who were elected at the conferences of the union at all levels.

Party and administrative officials of relevant fields attended the congress as observers.

The Congress approved the following agenda items:

1. On the review of the work of the Central Committee of the UAWK.

2. On the review of the Central Auditing Commission of the UAWK.

3. On revision of the rules of the UAWK.

4. On the election of the central guidance organ of the union.

Conveyed at the congress was a letter "On Improving the Role of the UAWK in Accomplishing the Juche-oriented Socialist Cause" sent by supreme leader Kim Jong Un to the participants in the 8th Congress of the UAWK.

Introduced there were congratulatory messages and letters sent by political parties, agricultural workers' organizations and social organizations of different countries on the occasion of the 8th Congress of the UAWK.

Ri Myong Gil, chairman of the Central Committee of the UAWK, made a report on the first agenda item.

The reporter said that Kim Jong Un sent the letter to the participants in the 8th Congress of the UAWK, in which he set for it as the general target and task of the union to model the whole union on Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism.

The period since the 7th Congress of the UAWK is the proud days when it got the agricultural workers united close around the party, aroused them to carry out the Theses on Socialist Rural Question and the party's agricultural revolutionary policy under the wise leadership of the peerlessly great persons of Mt. Paektu, and thus performed shining feats in the history of the socialist rural construction, the reporter said.

The union steadily developed all organizations of the union into the genuine mass political organization of the leader, true to the idea and cause of the leader under the leadership of the party with loyalty, he said, adding:

Under the wise leadership of President Kim Il Sung, leader Kim Jong Il and Marshal Kim Jong Un, the union held fast to the Party's line on the three revolution -- ideological, technical and cultural-- and the Theses on the Socialist Rural Question as the main task and dynamically encouraged agricultural workers and other members of the union to the struggle for building the socialist countryside and implementing the party's policy on effecting a drastic turn in agricultural production.

He said the undying exploits of Kim Il Sung, Kim Jong Il and Kim Jong Un who put forward the union as reliable defender and helper of the party faithful to the cause of Juche revolution, Songun revolution will shine long with history.

A decision on the first agenda item was adopted.

Sin Chang Song, chairman of the Central Auditing Commission of the UAWK, made a report on the second agenda item.

The third agenda item was discussed.

A decision on the revised rules of the union was adopted.

Then there was a discussion on the fourth agenda item.

The congress elected the Central Committee of the UAWK.

Candidates for members and alternate members of the Central Committee of the union were elected its members and alternate members.

There was an election on the Central Auditing Commission of the union.

The candidates for the members of the commission were elected members of the commission.

The contents of the decision of the First Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the UAWK were made public there.

The executive committee of the union was elected.

Ri Myong Gil was elected chairman of the C.C., the union and Han Kyong Song, Ryo Hye Jong, Kil Sang Bong and O Ki Baek vice-chairpersons.

An organizing committee of the Central Committee of the union was formed.

Department directors of the C.C, the union were appointed. The editor-in-chief of Nongop Kulloja, an organ of the C.C., the union, was appointed.

The results of the election of the chairman and vice-chairpersons of the Central Auditing Commission of the union held at the First Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Auditing Commission of the union were made public.
