DPRK Red Cross Hits U.S. for Resorting to Anti-DPRK Human Rights Campaign

Pyongyang, December 8 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Central Committee of the Red Cross Society of the DPRK gave the following answer to a question raised by KCNA Thursday as regards the fact that the U.S. House of Representatives passed a "resolution" on the reunion of "divided families" of Korean residents in the U.S.: The U.S. House of Representatives on Nov. 29 passed a "resolution" demanding the DPRK allow Koreans in the U.S. to meet their families and relatives living in the north and take a "confidence-building measure" conducive to ensuring peace on the Korean peninsula. After the passage of the "resolution," U.S. congressmen talk rubbish that "a cornerstone was provided for the reunion of separated families of 100,000 Koreans in the U.S." and "it is wish of the divided families in the U.S." As acknowledged by the world, the U.S. is the chief culprit who caused the division of the Korean nation and thus spawned the issue of divided families and relatives and who is preventing their reunions by pursuing a hideous hostile policy toward the DPRK. The U.S. brought huge aggression troops to south Korea every year and ceaselessly held provocative nuclear war exercises against the DPRK, deliberately scuttling the reunions of divided families and relatives in the north and the south and has persistently checked the visit of overseas Koreans to homeland by slapping sanctions against the DPRK and taking measures for stifling it. This is the undeniable nature of the U.S. The DPRK has so far kept the door open for overseas Koreans including those in the U.S. to visit their dear homeland any time and taken every sincere compatriotic measure to ensure their meetings with their families and relatives as desired by them. However, U.S. Congress cooked up a "bill for supporting reunions of divided families in the U.S." in January 2008 and fabricated a "resolution" demanding for reunions this time. This is chiefly aimed to use this issue as a pretext for kicking up a human rights campaign against the DPRK and as a smokescreen for covering up the despicable nature as a criminal responsible for the division of the Korean nation under the veil of "humanitarianism." The U.S. crafty moves to misuse even the reunion of divided families and relatives of Koreans in the U.S. for anti-DPRK human rights racket will only further reveal the U.S. sinister intention and impudence. |
