Nikolai Polishk, chairman of the Ukrainian "Treasured Sword of Songun" Association for the Study of the Juche Idea, was elected chairman of the remembrance committee.

The inaugural ceremony adopted a decision on forming remembrance committees at all organizations for the study of the Juche idea and holding political and cultural events in praise of the revolutionary career and undying exploits of Kim Jong Il on the fifth anniversary of his demise.
