KCNA Commentary Blasts American-style "Championing of Human Rights"
|

Pyongyang, December 10 (KCNA) -- It is 68 years since the World Declaration of Human Rights was adopted in reflection of the desire of mankind, but even at this moment a grave situation of human rights violation is prevailing on the earth. Recently, the U.S. and its vassal forces again railroaded the anti-DPRK "human rights resolution" full of lies and fabrications through the Third Committee of the 71st UN General Assembly. Obama and the state secretary and other outgoing authorities of the U.S. are blustering that it is necessary to leave no means untried to settle "north Korea's human rights issue" and the U.S. Congress is claiming that it will extend the application of the "North Korean Human Rights Act" till 2022. This represents an insult to the genuine human rights and the worst violation of the sovereignty of a nation. Each country and nation has its own history and custom and way of life. Therefore, the system of ensuring human rights should be established as required by their people. In particular, human rights precisely mean sovereignty and the people's rights to existence and development are guaranteed by powerful sovereignty. In our country where the popular masses' independent rights and creative activities are guaranteed institutionally, there does not exist what the hostile forces call "human rights issue" and such thing can never do. Their rackets to stifle the DPRK through sanctions under the pretext of "championing human rights" are doing serious harm to the economic development and the improvement of the standard of their people's living in the DPRK. Such barbarous actions taken by the U.S. under the pretext of "protection of human rights" are now claiming huge casualties and a large number of refugees across the world. The U.S. made no scruple of perpetrating state-sponsored terrorism, massacres and other unethical crimes unprecedented in the history of mankind under the pretexts of "color revolution," "anti-terrorism war," etc. The rights of many countries and nations are not "protected" but violated in cold blood owing to the U.S.-led Afghan, Iraqi and Libyan wars and its political and military interference in the internal affairs of Syria and indiscriminate air raids on peaceable inhabitants and mediaeval torturein overseas secret prisons. The U.S. is meddling in the internal affairs of other countries and nations and infringing upon their sovereignty, styling itself "world human rights judge". This is nothing but the worst challenge to the human rights and their violation. The U.S. is the worst human rights abuser in the world as the world community comments. The final document of the 17th non-aligned summit and the declaration of the 77-group ministerial meeting held during the 71st UN General Assembly reflect a stern judgment passed on the American-style "human rights standards" and the will to champion the genuine human rights. Those countries and nations desirous of independence should heighten their vigilance against the U.S. propaganda about "championing human rights" aimed at abusing them for its political purposes and wage a dynamic struggle against it. |
