Anniversary of Demise of Kim Jong Il Observed in Japan
Tokyo, December 17 (KNS-KCNA) -- A memorial service took place in Tokyo on Dec. 14 on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of demise of leader Kim Jong Il.

Present there were Chairman Fumihiro Himori and other members of the Japan Committee for Supporting the Independent and Peaceful Reunification of Korea. Invited there was So Chung On, department director of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon).

The participants observed a moment's silence in memory of Kim Jong Il.

Fumihiro Himori said it would be unthinkable apart from the leadership of Kim Jong Il that the Korean people successfully concluded the arduous march and the forced march and brought about the June 15 era of reunification despite the U.S. and its vassal forces' moves that had become ever more undisguised to isolate and stifle the DPRK since demise of President Kim Il Sung.

As there are Chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea Kim Jong Un and the Korean people single-mindedly united around him, the cause of HE Kim Jong Il will be successfully realized, he added.

Other speakers evinced their will to arrange events marking the 105th and the 75th birth anniversaries of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.

A message to Kim Jong Un was read out at the memorial service.
