U.S. Forces in S. Korea under Fire for Contaminating Underground Water

Pyongyang, December 20 (KCNA) -- It was disclosed that underground water around the U.S. military base in Ryongsan, Seoul was contaminated with poisonous substance exceeding 500 times than the tolerable limit, according to the south Korean MBC on Monday.

After a survey was made of underground water in two places near the military base, poisonous substance extremely harmful to human beings was found to surpass the tolerable limit 587 times and 512 times.

In this regard, the Seoul City side urged the Ministry of Environment to make public the results of the survey of the military base, warning that contaminated underground water would continue to leak unless the polluted area in the U.S. military base is purified.
