Ra was born in Onchon-ri, Kilju County of North Hamgyong Province on December 20, Juche 5 (1916) and experienced bitter sorrow of being a member of the ruined nation under the Japanese imperialists' colonial rule.

It was after Korea's liberation by President Kim Il Sung that she could lead a genuine life. She had worked hard as an agricultural worker with the will to contribute to the building of a prosperous country with increased grain production.

Even after her retirement for age, she has continued to work, always living in an optimistic way and having balanced diet.
