Kang Pan Sok and Anti-Japanese Women's Association

Pyongyang, December 26 (KCNA) -- It has been ninety years since Kang Pan Sok, an indomitable revolutionary fighter, formed the Anti-Japanese Women's Association on December 26, Juche 15 (1926) under the guidance of President Kim Il Sung. The association was the first Juche-type revolutionary women's organization in Korea which regarded the President's idea on women's emancipation as its guideline and was struggled to carry it out. Kim Il Sung, in his early years, clarified the issue of the position and role of the women in the revolutionary struggle, saying that the women's organization should be formed to retake their genuine right and freedom. True to his idea on the movement for women's emancipation, Kang Pan Sok, mother of the President, conducted energetic activities to form genuine revolutionary organization of women. She formed the Anti-Japanese Women's Association under the active guidance and help of the President and led broad sections of women to the struggle for national and social emancipation. |
