Minju Joson Blasts Japanese Reactionaries' Discriminative Step against Korean Schools

Pyongyang, December 27 (KCNA) -- Of late the Japanese reactionaries decided to discontinue the payment of subsidies to five Korean schools in Kanagawa Prefecture and the primary and middle school in Wakayama of Japan under absurd pretexts. In this regard, Minju Joson Tuesday observes in a commentary: The above-said measure represents an extreme abuse of power and another human rights abuse as it encroaches on the right of the Korean students to education. It is, at the same time, politically-motivated suppression of children. It goes on: Such action is reminiscent of the national assimilation policy enforced by the Japanese imperialists against Koreans in the past. In the past they did not allow the Koreans to use their own written and spoken languages and pressurized them to change their surnames into Japanese ones. They are going the lengths of threatening to stop the payment of subsidies to the Korean schools under the absurd pretext that the contents of the textbooks of the schools are not to their liking. This proves that the Japs' inveterate hostility towards the Korean nation remains unchanged. Such action to do harm to the DPRK and Chongryon is nothing but a foolish miscalculation of a street dealer. It will only bring shame, isolation and political ruin to them. |
