The DPRK women's football team took the first place in the 2016 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in October and at the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup held in Papua New Guinea.

Another Chinese Baidu carried an article titled "DPRK women's football team won two world cups for 42 days" while the AFC in an article posted on its website said that the DPRK women's football team displayed the honor of Asia.
