Preventive Measures Taken against Bird Flu
Pyongyang, December 31 (KCNA) -- Stronger preventive measures have been taken in the DPRK, as regards the spread of bird flu in various countries and regions of the world.

Hong Sun Gwang, vice-chairman of the State Sanitary Inspection Board under the Ministry of Public Health, told KCNA:

Avian flu of H7N9, H5N8 and H5N6 strains is lethal to not only poultry but also humans.

The medical inspection has been strengthened in border areas and at harbors and airport to check the inroads of bird flu.

Every hygienic and anti-epidemic centre is keeping a close watch on chicken and duck farms.

In particular, the minute observation system was set up in and around habitats of seasonal birds like hills and forests, while segregating sufferers from cold to conduct epidemiological investigation into them.

And it has been encouraged to fully sterilize sewage and excrement from chicken and duck farms.

Meanwhile, the hygienic information service on bird flu is being given among citizens.
