Self-reliance and self-development serve as eternal viability of Juche Korea and inexhaustible strength for achieving prosperity, it says, adding:

The history of the Korean revolution is a sacred history in which it started, advanced and emerged victorious by the force of self-development.

The revolutionary spirit of self-reliance and fortitude was created in producing Yongil bomb in the forest of Mt. Paektu. This developed into the Kunja-ri revolutionary spirit and the Chollima spirit in the 1950s and proved to be tremendous strength for waging a great struggle and bringing about changes in the annals of the revolution.

President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il clearly proved, through the gigantic revolutionary practice, the truth that independence is justice of the history and victory of the revolution and created and glorified the tradition of victory with the might of self-reliance and self-development, guided by the independent revolutionary idea.

Under such grim situation in which high-handed and arbitrary practices of the imperialists and hegemonic forces were rampant, the great leaders had advanced Korean-style socialism with their iron will for decades, stunning the world.

Last year the army and people of the DPRK brought about the events to be specially recorded in the history of the nation and such miraculous victory as turning adversity into favorable situation startling the world through their day-and-night advance. This is attributable to the indomitable attacking revolutionary idea and the spirit of self-reliance and self-development of respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un.

Huge are the tasks facing us and difficulties and trials lie in our way. But we can successfully attain the goals of the five-year strategy when we advance with the self-reliance and self-development as the dynamic force and the might of science and technology.
